Navaratri- Art exhibition and Reunion time for women

As there is a saying in Tamil ---"ANGALLAKKU ORU NAAL SHIVARATHRI, PENGALLAKKU OMBODU NAAL NAVARATHRI".  Translation: for men it only one day called Shivarathri for whereas for women it is nine days called  Navarathri. I wait for Navaratri to come. To celebrate Dolls Festival in my house. This is the only time when I can call my friends, relatives and near and dear one’s home. This again is the auspicious time for Pujas and celebrations. I look Navaratri the period for Women get together with a purpose. It is the time for women to undergo or give  counselling sessions. The  prevalent  of the joint family system in India did have a lot of advantages over disadvantages. However, women had little scope to speak or share with fellow women of the same family. Usually, women were not encouraged to speak loud or share with Mother-in-laws or Sisters-in-laws.  Either they took some help from Co-sisters or had to depend upon biological mothers for  remedial service or advic

Puppetry: Mother of All Folk Arts

Puppetry progenitor of the modern dramatic art, dates back to 2000 BC. It exists in all regions of the world like the Egyptians, Greeks, and some sections of the American continents. The role of puppets in spiritual and magical remedies has been part of it.  Besides ancient India, China, and Babylon. Puppetry in Asia is a traditional form and is the mother of all folk art forms.  The etymology of Puppetry can be traced from the Old French  ‘Poupette’, which is faring from the word ‘poupée’ meaning "a bird" or ‘a little doll’. Likewise, in Vulgar Latin root ‘Puppa’-meaning a chick or a doll. Likewise, in vulgar Latin root ‘Puppa-meaning a chick or a doll. This was adopted in Middle English in the 1530s as ‘Popet’-“Doll”. My Vision of the world to be Green My Vision of the world to be green a two- minutes, a short video movie contest changed my whole understanding of the how we live in   the unpolluted and unclean surroundings. Again, we are good in polluting it from everyday.  I am no exception to it. In a way, I am also responsible for polluting  my surroundings. Well, The Energy and Research Institute-TERI-Tetra Pak  Initiated  a project called ‘Sensitization, Education, and Awareness of Rec ycling for a Cleaner Habitat- S.E.A.R.C.H’.  They called for a contest on ‘My vision for the world to be green’- two minute film making contest made me go round my own city Hyderabad for the first time with an open eye to view how beautiful and green I my city. This again as a push by my mother who sent me to explore my own city of pride with her Handycam.
